Sea Cliff Elementary School

Reconstruction of the original early 1900s classic elementary school focused on improving and modernizing the school’s main entrance with a new secure entrance vestibule and security office.

What may appear to be a simple straight forward project was far more complicated due to the existing floor levels and intermittent entrance levels. The design:

  • dropped the floor level of an adjacent space for a security booth

  • modified the interior and exterior entrance stairs to align with the security booth allowing for visitor transactions

  • extended the new stair landing to comply with building code

All in all, the new entrance is a seamless integration in line with the original design and in context with the historical fabric of the 1910 elementary school.
